How a Wellness Infusion Can Help This Holiday Season

How a Wellness Infusion Can Help This Holiday Season

Water is essential to life, not just in humans, but in general. The human body is 60% water, around 71% of the Earth’s surface is covered with water, and every plant, animal, and other living thing needs water to survive. We use it for cushioning and lubricating joints, regulating body temperature, removing waste, and protecting vital organs, among many other things.

Our heavy dependence on this life-giving substance also means when our bodies don’t have enough to function properly, we become dehydrated

Regardless of what’s causing you dehydration, our wellness infusion therapy can help keep your body’s fluids balanced and prevent the complications of dehydration.

If you live in the Beverly Hills, California, area, and you need wellness infusions or other treatment to stay healthy this holiday season, Dr. Shawn Veiseh and our dedicated staff are here to help.

Causes of dehydration

Dehydration is a problem that can develop from a number of different issues, including:

Excess exposure to heat

This results from being outside in the sun for extended periods of time while working or performing strenuous physical activities like running, jogging, and sports. The heat causes you to sweat profusely, leading to increased water loss.

Chronic or acute illnesses

This is especially true of untreated illnesses like diabetes or kidney disease, but any acute or chronic problem that causes excess sweating, vomiting, or diarrhea may lead to losing more fluids than your body can take in.

Geography

Spending time in higher elevation areas means dealing with thinner air and increases your risk of dehydration.

Alcohol abuse

Diuretics cause your body to expel more water, and while several common drinks can cause that to happen, drinking unhealthy amounts of alcohol will not just dehydrate you, but damage your skin, muscles, liver, kidneys, and brain while doing so.

Facts about wellness infusions

Simply speaking, IV therapy is a straightforward means of getting fluids directly into your body as quickly and safely as possible. It not only allows a way to rehydrate your body through administering saline, but it also allows for precise dosing of medications, vitamins, and other fluids you need.

This therapy is used not just for treating dehydration and administering medication, but also for managing malnutrition and relieving pain.

We can offer you this treatment in our office or in your home, combining state-of-the-art therapy with close monitoring throughout the process.

What to expect

Once we’ve determined what you need in your IV therapy and how much fluid will be necessary, we disinfect your skin and place a tourniquet on your arm to enhance the flow of blood at the injection site.

Once the best vein is located, we carefully slide the needle in, which will be fitted with a plastic tube to start your IV. Next, the tourniquet comes off and we test the tube to ensure proper function and tape it down to prevent movement during your infusion.

Another tube is connected to the bag of fluid used for your infusion. The bag is hung on a stand and a monitor regulates the pace at which everything drips into your body.

You’ll feel the effects pretty quickly, especially if you’re dehydrated, and the timeframe for your infusion will vary depending on why you need the fluids and how bad your issues are. Once finished, there’s no recovery time, but other treatments may be necessary, and you should get some rest.
